Of Awards and Things

The absolutely talented Amit, of whose writing I am a big fan, awarded me this one…Inspiring eh? well well…I am just bursting with happiness..so much that the sleeve of my new t shirt has a slight hole in it..darn!
and then earlier on Techie2Mom was kind enough to bestow two awards on me as well which I am yet to acknowledge

Well now the tear in the sleeve is bigger eh?

This one Amit bestowed upon me and all that 🙂

anyways, so as with all awards, these three also wants seven facts about me…

abhi how many times do I give seven facts about me..so I have decided to write about seven things around me I dont like..what I can be a bit negative in life na!

1. The blackberry..its like the worst invention ever…constantly making people connected with the virtual world and they hardly are aware of the real world…someone half hears you and repeats the last 2 words pretending to hear you..people are constantly moving their fingers on that damn device pretending to be a part of a conversation..let me just finish this article and then I will pay attention to you..yaa right!

I hate that thing totally hate that thing!

Things remain undone while people check their facebook accounts or check out the latest score or what not…I hate it..oh wait, I already said it..and if 2 years down the line you catch with a BB please come and spank me will ya?

2. The TV – Ah well..is there a more idiotic invention..I know not…of course you may accuse me of having one at home and occasionally viewing it..but I get worried about how some people are just ADDICTED to it.. ..like some people want the TV on ALL THE TIME and even if they are some where else..like in the kitchen cooking, they want to hear the noise..jeez!

3. The video games – no, dont give me the explanation of it being very important for development and quote articles which tell you how the kids become smarter, faster, better, intellectual(er?) blah blah blah! after being on these games for 20 hours a day… I dont care…I think its just a waste of time, energy, mental ability and deprives children of intellectual stimulation

4. The blaring horns in some two wheelers and cars and buses and trucks – God! the first time I heard, I got a heart attack I swear and the second time I think I fell down…Is it only a Bombay thing or does it happen anywhere else..those really loud horns which screech as if someone is dying in agony so loudly that you drop whats in your hand and clutch your heart so that it doesnt leap out of your mouth?

5. The traffic in Bombay – well, lesser said better…

6. Trying hard to fit into a crowd – I must admit I am guilty of this one….trying to change myself to fit into a crowd..why was that needed…I dont know…I mean, I am who I am..why would I need to change myself to get approval and ‘fit in’ I was an idiot back then…

7. Interference in personal matters – I hate it..its MY matter I dont need you to give me advice unless I ask for it..and dont interfere okie? so no, I am not having a second child, no my big stomach doesnt mean I am pregnant, no I wont ‘not scold’ my child, yes I want to discipline her MY way, yes my child eats a lot and no I am not going to hide that fact, no dont expect me to treat my husband as my lord, yes he is my friend, and yes he does kitchen work as well…now go away will you?

There, 7 stuff that I dislike

Now to pass on the awards…this one is a toughie…and as usual I would just pass it on to anyone who wants to pick it up because I feel writing blogs in itself is an awesome thing and people who manage that are inspiring anyways 🙂

*I pray for you that you will very soon be given a BB by your office*

      Hope u r having a great weekend 🙂

    • R's Mom says:

oh yaa you are first 🙂

  2. Amit says:

Thank you for saying all those goody goody things about me. And you really deserve the award so puff up as much as you like. 🙂
I am with you on all the points except the video game one. I have played Video games like crazy all my life although I have stopped after marriage. I think if you allow children to play some good, non-violent games for an hour everyday, it is good for them. And also, I think all children do not have appetite for them.
Nintendo is good because you do not have to sit and play it. There is physical work as well as a nice game. For example you can play Tennis with R on Wii.
Enough gyan. Don’t beat me, okay?

    • R's Mom says:

      puffed enough..

okie..may be the video games I am just over dramatizing..but pata nahi Amit, now a days when I see kids and their obession, I get very scared honestly!

      • Amit says:

I think you have to be firm with the amount of time spent on video games otherwise it can go way out of hand.

        • R's Mom says:

okie okie..got the point..now goes off to google Nintindo and Wii…you aaj kal ke baache what big big confusing words you use for video games 🙂

          • Amit says:

Aaj kal ke bacche?? I am very sure I am older than you!! 😛 It’s just that meri twacha se meri umar ka pata nahi chalta.

            • R's Mom says:

are you are you? I am 30..turning 31 next month darn 😦

oh yaa..aapke twacha ko maine see nahi kiya hai..but I am sure nahi pata chalega 🙂

              • Amit says:

Yes, I am. 🙂 Not by a very large margin though. 🙂 I am 33. I keep getting compliments that I still look like a school kid so i don’t feel that old.

                • R's Mom says:

Darn! you are older…I am upset, I thought I could show some rubab over you 🙂

Now I have to polite thanks to all the Indianness thats bharofied inside me..badon ka adar karo and all 🙂

LOL on compliments of looking like a school kid 🙂

  3. Swaram says:

    COngrats RM 🙂 🙂

  4. Sreetama says:

How come you are posting in the evening instead of morning? Well I think I will be subjected to point No. 7 now! 😛 Agree with your points. #4 & #7 bug me a lot. #4 is common at Delhi/NCR too! #1 as well… Just because I don’t have a BB or an iPhone, am I not good enough to receive your attention?! (Puppy face) But then for the past 4 months I have been using a smart phone and with gtalk, whatsapp & gmail installed in it, even I get pinged every now & then! But I never fidget with it while I am in a face to face communication process.

    • R's Mom says:

      tooo much work rey 🙂

I think the phone is more like an addiction..thats the reason I am not buy a smart phone..but like I said, its now…who knows 2 years down the line what the case will be 🙂

  5. Hahaha, you mean someone actually told you that your child eats a lot ? And then again why the hell should you hide the fact? Or maybe he/she was secretly worried that their own child doesn’t eat well!

Oh I know exactly the type of horn you mean–I almost got a heart attack myself the first time I heard it. It is not very common here, mercifully.

I second you on TV and video games– I sure am glad I am not addicted to either.

Congratulations for the awards, RM 🙂

    • R's Mom says:

no no, what I meant was, when I tell people that my child eats a lot (yes she does) then they tell me, aisa mat bolo nazar kalegi etc..but I know the problems of eating too much eh?

      That horn is horrible yaar!

      thanks thanks

  6. Sujatha says:

I thought u @ home today since there were no updates from you in the morning..
Congrats on the awards !! Indeed u inspire me in lot of ways…
I really hate people interfering in personal issues esp. the one related to kids.. Many dont know their limits and get into very personal conversation at the very first meeting itself… I get really irritated when I come across such people.
    Happy weekend to u 🙂

  7. Congratulations RM for the awards, you deserve them 🙂 I agree with you ob 4th and 7th point 🙂

  8. ashreyamom says:

this reminds me.. when iw as in school, i wont study and would be just watching TV to escape from studies. that time my mom got very irritated as she kept on calling me, but i didn’t respond as i was engrossed in TV. she finally said,” there will be fire in the house, u still keep watching TV. when you die, i will ask others to bury TV also with you”. all old days..
i agree with my life part.. it so irritates when others try to dictate you and how to bring up child as they brought up their three kids.. that too when grandparents want and try to become parents of ur kid too.. 😦

  9. techie2mom says:

Ooh if I would have known that the award will make a hole in your t shirt then I would have restrained myself 😉
    Concongratulations for the awards!!
I too hate BlackBerry especially when my hubby is in immersed in it
And about tv I cannot agree more. This is the reason we don’t have cable connection at home
And interference in personal matters (especially of women) is like our national time pass, it irks me so much I even did a post on that

  10. chaitalichari says:

    I agree to Pt. 1, 2 and 3.
I feel same abt facebook at times.. but even i hv a facebook a/c.. but i guess there shld be a limit.
And Offcourse PT. 7, this is same reason i wrote to u.. because i feel even though blog is a public space i should restrict to my views n don’t get personal.

    • R's Mom says:

oh please you were not getting personal at all….you were just stating facts..and doing it politely..you neednt have written to me..in my case, I have people almost talking in an offending manner which irritates me so much

  11. garima says:

    congrats on the awards….
agree completely agree on point 7

  12. deepM says:

I am the first one today!

1,3,5,7 – i can relate with those points.

1- Somehow i like blackberry but my husband is like why you want that fone when there are so many good options available? i am like “huh??” 🙂

    3- I just hate video games. that’s it 🙂

5- Traffic in mumbai what we can say about it RM? if my PM ask me to wait after 6.30 and i have to miss my drop, my face would become like 3 yr old kid who is craving for something and told not do that. 😦

7- I was always been skinny but after marriage put on some wait .especially my tummy. people often ask me so “pregnant huh??” irrrrrrrrrrrrr i hate that question. 🙂

    • R's Mom says:

arey nahi Deep..I just didnt moderate comments because I posted late 🙂

you have been skinny eh? in my case, I have never been skinny so you can well imagine 🙂

LOL on face like 3 year old 🙂

  13. deepM says:

oops i forgot.. Congratulations on absolutely wonderful award RM!! 🙂

  14. Pepper says:

I think that list would be common to most of us, if not all of us. I agree with all the 7 points you’ve listed – they annoy me no end.

And kya RM, how can you use the “I would just pass it on to anyone who wants to pick it up” line for an award? I guess you can do that for a tag, but an award? You win them. They are ‘awarded’ to you. I wonder who would take it from here and say “I award myself” or “I consider myself awarded by RM” 😛

And what’s with ALL these awards coming with the very same “Tell me 7 things about yourself” tag. 😐

    • R's Mom says:

Errr…I dont know Pepper whom to pass on the award to..I have tons of blogs I read and I like ALL of them!! so whom to pass it to..so go on pick up and say that I consider myself awarded by RM 🙂

LOL on the 7 things…I am running out of options now

  15. meenamenon says:

Sometime I dropped in here na! Heyyy hv to tell u this jus LUVED ur HP Tees! N heyyy v much inspired by u I hv taken to rereading HP series… lol!

  16. Comfy says:

Itne saare awards. But then you are the right person for them all. After all I love your blog. Congratulations and many many more to you. 🙂

  17. pixie says:

you truly deserve all the awards!! hugs and congrats!! 😀
    #6 and #7 – ditto!!

  18. Tanishka says:

How… Just how did you know all the things I hate??? 🙂

  19. Congrats on the awards. The BB thing…isn’t that an issue with all smartphones? It gets to me when people do that.. Once upon a time it was people texting in your presence but now it’s become worse. And with you on the interference on personal matters too… 🙂

  20. Congratulations on the awards! 🙂
Agree with each and every point. I hate being connected to the virtual world every minute of your life, and same with the TV. Can’t stand people advising me on the way I should live life, and definitely cannot treat the OH as my lord and master. He is my friend, right, and I respect him, but he is not my master. Can’t stand blaring horns too – and, no, it is definitely not a Mumbai thing. It happens in Bangalore, too, and every time I hear one, I clutch my hand to my heart, too. I think video games are pointless beyond a certain point. 😛 Hate the traffic snarls in Bangalore as well. And yes, I too have tried to fit into a crowd – and given up. Have realised that I am me, and that instead of trying to fit in, I should just be me and try to find people who I can be comfortable with as ME.

  21. Ashwathy says:

I want to start a new post entirely on point #7!! 😛
