Of Unexpected Phone Calls

Incident #1

Imagine being crazy midst work with number crunching in its peak and deadline looming overhead

Phone rings..unknown number

RM: Hello

Voice: Hi, is this RM

RM very rudely : yes whose this

Voice: Errr..is this RM

RM even more rudely: yes it is, whose this

Voice: getting a bit scared: hey its Nithvin

RM: Gosh! Nithvin, Hi..listen, can I call you back in the evening

Nithvin: of course any time, sorry to have disturbed you

RM keeps the phone down

Collegue: Baap rey, if I was on that phone on the other end, I would never dare to call you again, how rude can you get

RM: :(:(

Then of course, I did call her up and apologise and she was sweet enough to pretend that I wasnt rude!

Incident #2

Imagine yourself at work and a un known number rings

RM: Hello?

Voice: hi, is this RM

RM: yes, whose this please

Voice: Hey, its Deeps

RM: oh Deeps, is that really you?

As if someone else is going to call me and say that she is Deeps *Rolls eyes*

and we talk along as if we know each other for life (Actually its our first phone call)

I tell her that I thought she was a crank call which I sometimes get from Pakistan and she is like huh?

After the call, its 10 minutes into lunch time and I am still grinning like a cat swallowed the canary or something in those lines

Colleague: so you have friends in Pakistan?

RM: Pakistan..no nahi..

C: but you just said that right?

RM: errr…errr…

C: you look so happy…childhood friend ka phone tha kya?

RM: ah well!

there Deeps, now you know what I looked like after your call 🙂

Incident #3

I get an email from Ani  who asks me for my right number..said she called earlier on some other number, and couldnt get through me

I give her my number

On Saturday evening, after our trip to the Science Centre, I get a call from an unknown number

RM: Hello

Voice: Hey RM, its Ani

RM: oh Ani

and we go jabber jabber jabber..she wants to talk to R, but the brat refuses hmpf!

and then comes the fun

The darling lady speaks Hindi..Gosh people, I wish I could record her Hindi..its the sweetest Hindi I have ever heard anyone speak…its so cute (full of accent) and so adorable that I couldnt help but laugh…and its perfect grammatically…While my Hindi sounds typical Mumbaiyya…her Hindi sounds just perfect..Awww…I am in love with that kind of Hindi 🙂

Three phone calls, all three unexpected, all in a span of a week, all giving me so much joy that I think my heart would burst..

Blogging is definitely fun 🙂
