Little Things You Teach Me!

Dear RD

On an average, people who know both of us think I am the calming factor on you. No one knows the truth really. So lets just keep it that ways eh?

You know, of late, I have started learning little things from you. No, not finance *get that expression of sheer shock off your face* Its just little things which I have noticed about you which make me happy.

Remember that day when the BEST guys went on strike suddenly. Youtook the day off from work to take me to the doctor in the morning because I was unwell. When we were turning into the building, you saw loads of folks standing at the bus stop pleading for rickshaws. You just asked me, if I could walk it to the building and you took as many people as you could in the car, and dropped them ALL THE WAY to the station! folks you didnt even know. Folks who were in need…I dont know many people who do that…and you hadnt had breakfast also!

And then that day when we took the brat to the doctor after you came back from Sabarimalai for dressing her wound…the lady was in so much pain..her husband was wondering how to get her to the nearest hospital recommended by the doctor. You offered to drive them down in the car. You neednt have, but you did, and thats something so wonderful…

Or the time, when you felt bad when we were buying pav bhaji for the brat from the larri and a little girl of the brat’s age, came to beg to us for food. I was just going to refuse, but you asked the pav bhaji man to make the same kind of pav bhaji as made for the brat and you paid the money for it and gave the food to the little girl. I think R learnt an important lesson that day. (Of course, the little girl just crossed the street and sold off the pav bhaji to someone else, much to our dismay!)

Or the day, when you decided to surprise Brc amma with a sewing machine…you took the brat with you and both of you came back with an electrical sewing maching for her because she was thinking of buying one..whether she uses it or not, the fact that you remembered our conversation and went ahead and bought it for her is such a sweet thing!

And then when you said we can offer to drop the brat’s daycare friends who live far..back to their homes after the bday party….who really thinks like that now a days!

You teach me a little everyday, including how to pass on the job to mom when I tell you to do it *eye roll*

but you also teach me a little everyday on how to be a better person!

With love
RM

Wow RM! What an absolutely wonderful man you are married to! While I’ve gone out of my way to give random strangers a lift when it is raining, I wouldn’t have even thought of doing something like that when I see them merely waiting at the bus stop.

Based on all that you’ve said about him, he seems to have a golden heart. 🙂

  15. Deepa says:

RD and M are pretty similar in these ways, so uncanny to find someone else who thinks of these little little things that are not just rare but almost extinct in our day to day lives. Also, this reveals that you too are a very good person for appreciating these traits, instead of the other way around. Know what I mean?

Most touching gesture listed here- RD dropping people off from bus stop to station. Dunno anyone who would think to do that in middle of busy day or any day for that matter. Have to meet RD now on next visit to Mumbai:-)
