RD didnt click these pictures, I clicked them via his ‘Smart Phone’ so please excuse the quality eh?

I made them for all my nieces and nephews from my Amma’s side….some 10 t shirts were painted in 1.5 months..not bad at all…Since I was painting one for Rahul, I decided to do one for my cousin S’s son who is coming along for Rahul’s birthday and then I decided to paint for the other kiddos as well since someone or the other is meeting up with them..adding all of that, I ended up painting loads of t shirts..it was fun..some came out really great, some not so great, but I guess its the thought that matters eh?

Also, for an authentic Tambram Sambhar recipe, check out my mother’s onion sambhar on IMC 🙂

Wow super t-shirts. I’m sure the kids will love them. 🙂 You have so much patience

The Bloke loves Sambhar and I have been hoping to try arachavita sambar for loong! Just one question. The coconut paste that you add at the end must be in a coconut chutney kind of consistency? The question may sound super silly, but every time i add coconut in a dish, it just doesn’t get mixed with the gravy/broth. Kind of stands out!

    • R's Mom says:

I hope the kids like them

For the sambhar, the coconut should have chutney type consistency..a trick that amma uses is that the coconut grinded wiith the other masala, she first adds it with the parappu and then churns it a bit with the maath and then adds it to the imli mixture..did you understand? or else I will write you a detailed mail 🙂

  8. Wow! All those T-shirts look lovely! And the slogans on them are super cute! 🙂

I love araithuvitta sambar. 🙂 All the very best for the contest! I am racking my brains for a recipe that reminds me of Amma or Patti. 🙂

  22. Ashwathy says:

The T-shirts are ossum! 😀 Pls make one for me as well na! 😉

BTW I make sambar exactly according to this recipe. Every. Single. Time. *gives proud smug look*
Only difference we don’t use chana dal, and we fry the grated coconut instead. And boil the tur dal with the veggies. Rest is the same.

It’s not my recipe’s, it’s my MIL’s. Hubby loves it. Now I am used to it, so I make it this way. It’s more effort, but it’s yum! 🙂
