YES YES YES HE DID IT!!!!

*Drumrolls, claps, crackers*

RD managed to run the Mumbai Marathon Half marathon a complete of 21.097 kms in 3 hours and 14 minutes…Boss!! I am doing cartwheels here…

for anyone who has seen RD, it seems to be an impossible feat..with his bulk and weight..but the guy trained and trained for over 6 months making it possible…I have never been more proud or happier for him before….and after the marathon he actually managed to WALK all the way to Churchgate station as well and board the train back home..which is a feat in itself…I mean…I am estatic and so so proud!!!

What a weekend this was….ek dum amazing 🙂

My mom came down on Thursday and dad came down on Saturday…Since it was Bogi Pongal, Amma made amazing bolis…Well…R and I call it Puran Polis…kya sahi tha….hot polis off the tava with a dollop of ghee on the top and you can see it melt slowly and savor the taste…yummmmmm!!

We did basically nothing great on Saturday since it was the day before the marathon…Appa came in the morning and the father daughter duo went to the airport to pick him up…R was so so excited to her grand parents…

Amma made amazing vegetable upma and then for lunch we had keerai mulakutal, green tomato chutney which was a poem in itself and sexy aloo curry made by yours truely 🙂 Kya sahi lunch tha…

R was kinda coughing so I thought it would be easier to just take her to the doctor and show it once…at the doctor’s there was so much crowd baap rey!!! so R and I sat there while RD went to get some stuff done…

R: Amma, yeh chotu baby ka name kya hai

RM: Why dont you ask?

R: Baby, aapka name kya hai?

Baby’s mom: D…..

R: Acha

Then the baby goes inside and comes out, while R and the baby play for a while…as soon as the baby gets the meds, the mom says bye and goes

R: mereko baby se milna hai

RM: but baby has gone home da

R: I want to meet..give me baby

RM: Arey from where I will get

R: Acha aap mereko baby dene wale the na..zara jaldi do na (You were going to give me a baby na, give fast) pointing towards my tummy

And RM almost faints in embrassessment…as women all around look at her paunch and smile at her knowingly as if they think she is pregnant and RM looks about clarifying..no no I am not pregnant and children these days *Rolls eyes*

anyways thankfully the doctor called us in and then we went to the temple and came back home…

We made some yummy apple cake (RD and I) for amma since we love her and all that 😉

had an amazing dinner of yummy pasta and bacha hua puran polis 🙂  and went to sleep

Sunday

D day for RD and we got up early..yes all four of us except R…Appa dropped RD to the station and then RD ran the marathon…and came back..

Since it was Pongal, amma made the most amazing sweet Pongal and Salt Pongal, chutney, sambhar, beet root pachadi ..the lunch was absolutely AWESOME!!! so awesome that I am still remembering it and my mouth is watering 🙂

and then its Uttrayan, and you can take a Gujju out of Gujarat but you cant take the Gujarat out of a Gujju..so R and I went to fly kites..surprisingly I remembered how the tie the ‘kinna’ and we went down the building to fly….Appa had bought 3 kites out of which two tore..the third one went up grudgingly as if doing me a favor ‘which hurt the Gujju part of me’ but then I guess, out of practice…but it went up a little, R was all excited, Appa was laughing his head off, at my attempts to raise the kite…but anyways, kuch toh kiya…

I am so missing Gujarat, the undhiyu, the ponk, the chikki…Love you Baroda 🙂

Then I took R for a hair cut *again* I wonder why her hair is so unruly!!! Reminds me of Harry Potter 🙂

Appa went back to Goa in the evening while Amma plans to stay will Wednesday…

Amma made awesome crisp dosas for dinner and we ate and ate and ate and went off to sleep

PS – I ran the 6 kilometers dream run as well….I will do a separate post on those experiences later 🙂
