CREAM Baths and Bikkis

Usual morning…R and her mom fighting against time….R does her usual EEL act after the bath with Mom fighting to get her dry while she squirms, screams, shouts…then comes the usual morning cream session..where ma has to use half a tube of J&J cream to make her skin kind of look human….and today was a day..when mom decided to give her the tube in hand so that she would use it to keep her mouth shut…and thats where the mistake happened… Mom forgot to close the tube AND…… R got so excited that she squeezed the tube HARD …the contents splashed everywhere..on the bed..on ma’s specs..on ma’s hand..on R’s tummy…..It was a cream bath..we had early in the morning……so much cream..that Ma used it to rub R’s entire body…ma’s entire hands, legs and what not….expensive tastes the child has huh!
Everyday…I give R a bikki before we leave and now she goes and points towards the shelf where the bikkis are kept..and insists that I give her one….one day we ran out of vitamarie and hence started parle Gs…and then one day we ran out of parle Gs and Mom make the mistake of giving her a cream bikki…after that day…she always wants the cream bikki where she will very carefully separate the two halves..lick the cream..and give the bikki to ma to pop it into her mouth…(thats the secret of my growing gait)..and if I tried giving her parle G any of these days..she refused to even look at it!!!! and today…..after the cream bath she wanted cream bikki and Ma ran out of that..thats it..end of world….major crying session…shouting..refusing to touch the bikki..but Ma didnt have a choice..finally she settled in for one nankatai..looking at me as if ‘How could you not notice that yesterday it was the last bikki and you should have bought more..and I am eating this one as a favor for you..’…yaa baby…18 months and so much nakhra..what wil you do at 18 years???? I am already dreading!

  1. LOL! Cream bath and cream bikki! Sounds like so much fun! We, Maas, aren't given the choices we want, right?

Came across your blog 1 week back. It is very interesting and I can totally relate with you because I have a 4 year old girl and 14 month old girl. How do you manage your time in Mumbai and commuting? While studying in Powai campus, I used to think how working ladies manage their time seeing them in local trains and I know it is very difficult for you to commute with a small baby. We live in Washington DC, mostly work from 9:30 to 5 and spend extra 2hrs commuting and picking kids from their respective daycare's. Do you have a maid to take care of all the other things? -Swathi

@Swathi: Thanks…Two kids and wow you manage so much…I am impressed :)Basically I leave home at about 7.30 in the morning…drop R…go to station…get to work…come back to station..pick up R and then get back home at about 7.45 to 8 in the night…its quite hectic honestly πŸ™‚ I have a maid who does the sweeping and swapping..and helps with vessels..washing clothes hubby and the machine take care πŸ˜‰ cooking I get up in the morning and do and again do it in the night once I reach home πŸ™‚
