Time out and McDs

So R got her first time out at her daycare on Saturday..and as usual her teacher was very apologetic about it to me….The story goes like this….She was doing her usual head down between legs pose while eating her lunch..her teacher warned her three four times since she was showing the tendency of throwing up while doing that..she refused to listen…and then when she went to wash her hands..she purposely poured water all over her dress..they again told her not to do that..and then tried to change her dress and she ran away from then..she then ran all round the daycare without her chaddis..and that was it..they are very very particular about it..after so many warnings they realised she was just not in the mood to listen..so they gave her a ‘time out’..made her stand in the corner for about half an hour..while she cried initially after that she went to her teacher and hugged her and then the teacher put her to sleep..hahahaha! Her teacher told me that we tried really hard to make her understand but she was troubling so much that we had to give her a time out..which I told her teacher is good..thats how she will learn discipline 🙂

Dad was in yesterday and we dropped him to Borivali east in the evening..after that we came to McDs near the flyover….attempted to sit there and eat with R…and it really worked..for two reasons as per hubby..firstly there was no cutlery for her to break…and secondly there was so much noise around that she was quite at home…so we had a burger each and some french fries..R has 2 and 3/4 of french fries and half a piece of the upper half of the bun of the burger..and of course she licked off tons of sauce from the fries that her dad tried feeding her..hehehe 🙂 It was a good outing and something I am tempted to try again as long as R is able to manage staying eating 😉

@Timepass: Welcome to the blog and thanks for the compliment 🙂 Great 11 days older..that would make her 18 months in the next 4 days…eheh 🙂 Happy 18 months birthday in advance 🙂

  3. I believe in time-outs too. Your day-care centre seems to be really good. I love your attitude too.And McD's is an obvious choice for taking kids out for the first time to a restaurant. My boys love the place and quite frankly…so do I! 🙂

@M4: Yaa the day care guys are really nice…Even I love McDs….the lovely fries and amazing burgers 🙂

  5. I think your day care center is pretty focused and good for the development of kids in general. Yep, I can understand the Mcdonalds bit perfectly, the noise and the chaos there is something kids take to instantly and of course, no cutlery is such an added attraction for parents!

@Swapna: Okie decided McDs till R is 6 years old and ready to take on cutlery laid tables without breaking it :)And of course like I mentioned to M4…I so love burgers and french fries 🙂

  7. Ash does the same things these days- runs around when we are trying to dress her up, pours water on herself and tries to do a somersaults at every chance she gets 🙂 I have no idea how I can enforce a time-out for her at such an early age. She doesn't stay still for 2 mins, forget 30 🙂 BTW, don't you think a 30-min time-out is a bit too long for a 18 month old? I've heard that the time-out should be directly proportionate to the age of the kid, for example, a 2 yr old should get a timeout for 2 mins, 3 yr old for 3 mins and so on. I'm sure the daycare must be very good and they might know what they are doing, but just for your info, check this out: http://www.childdevelopmentinfo.com/parenting/timeout.shtml
